How to Organise Your Cables for a Neat and Tidy Space
Do you have long and/or messy cables around your home? From computer cables to TVs and other appliances or devices, you might not have had the time to organise your cables properly.
Don’t worry, in this blog, Scott Electrical will explore exactly how you can organise your cables for a neat and tidy space!
Why You Should Organise Your Cables
Organising your cables promises more than just a neat and clean space. Tidying up your cables can also reduce the risk of accidents or injuries as a result of messy cables. For example, cables that are simply left in tangles in areas where people walk past can pose safety hazards - someone could trip over them and injure themselves. They can also overheat and potentially cause an electrical fire.
Messy cables can also make it more difficult for you to untangle them when you need to remove them, and can also be easily damaged from people stepping on them. As a result, it is important to consider how to organise cables accordingly.
How to Organise Long Cables
So, how can you organise your cables?
There are various equipment/accessories that can be used to help you better manage your cables. This includes:
- Cable ties
- Cable trays
- Cable ducts (which also provides protection)
- And more
Here are several ways to use the above and more to organise your cables:
- Use clips to fasten cables to the wall or other surface (i.e desk).
- Secure a bundle of cables with a cable tie, ideal for applications that require multiple cables.
- Shorten longer cables by making a knot/loop and using a cable tie to secure it.
- Label cables if possible using a label tag.
- Utilise a cable tray to keep cables together, attached to the underside of a desk or table.
- Feed cables through a cable duct for protection and better cable management.
